GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Our established school community will already be aware of the following information, however, what follows may be useful for families considering enrolling their student. Shepparton ACE Secondary College started life 18 years ago as a senior secondary school and transitioned to Year 7 -12 in 2019.  During that time we chose to remain a small school to enable us to have small classes and get to know all the students in the school. We teach the Australian Curriculum from Year 7 to 10, as do many Independent Schools, and offer VCE, VCE VM and VET at Years 11 and 12. We have a strong careers department with opportunities for School Based Apprenticeships, work experience and a pathway to university.  In 2023, the graduating students found employment or enrolled in tertiary studies. We have strong anti-bullying policies and all our staff work hard on student engagement.  We also have an individual tutoring program and offer rich extra-curricular experiences through incursions and a camping program that are cost free to parents.
AI (Artificial Intelligence)
A reminder to parents and students that the school and its staff take learning and academic effort very seriously and as a result the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) to write essays or for any other school work is banned.
If a student is found to have used AI to write or complete work, the work will need to be resubmitted in order to be able to pass.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

by Zahli Aylett

I’ve never been a “school person”. But that all changed very quickly once I moved to ACE.

When I first started, I wasn’t in a good place. It was looking like I wouldn’t even make it past Year 9. I didn’t have an ounce of motivation to go to school or even get out of bed. That was until I was called in for a meeting. In that meeting, I felt understood from the minute I sat down.

For the first time ever, I was heard and listened to.

Every teacher at ACE went above and beyond to make school feel like a safe place. And they succeeded.

Not only making school feel like a safe place, but making it feel like a home away from home.

If three years ago, I was told that in three years I’d love going to school and actually look forward to it, I would laugh in your face and tell you you’re joking. But it’s the truth.

Thanks to ACE, I’m now passing all of my classes and getting all my work done on time.

For the first time ever, I have hope for my own future.

It is with true honesty I can say that ACE is not the only most remarkable school I think to possibly ever exist. But it is a place that truly cares about its students and their lives.

And for that they 100% have the biggest heart.

by Isabella Cartwright

When I first moved to this school, I was angry, afraid, not wanting to do any of my work, I felt like everyone hated me.

I hadn’t been to school in nearly two years, my academic confidence was zero.

That is what I felt, until I moved here.

When I moved here in roughly late November of 2023, I was immediately welcomed by all my peers and my teachers, which I was allowed to call on a first name basis instead of the classic mister or miss.

To me, that was very shocking. Because my whole life even in day care and kinder I had to refer to those people as such, otherwise it was deemed disrespectful.

Being able and encouraged to call teachers by their first name here at ACE has been great. I feel like I’m a friend to them of sorts, rather than a foe.

They helped me with various things, including advocating for my safety in times where I felt I couldn’t go on living in distress. They helped me with my education, showing incredible diligence and understanding towards me and my low academic confidence.

They listened, they heard, they told, they solved.

I will always be forever grateful to the amazing staff here at ACE, for not only giving me a chance but also giving me my confidence back.

If I could look back and speak to who I used to be, I would say don’t be scared of the new school, they will be here for you every step of the way. And for that, I thank them all

Information regarding our anti-bullying policies

As most parents and carers know we have in place a number of policies that assist us in dealing with bullying behaviour. Our Student Code of Conduct  states that student enrolments can be terminated if bullying does not cease. We know that young people cannot learn if they are feeling unsafe and we respond to reports of bullying on the same day if at all possible. Unfortunately,  we have also needed to ask a number of students who chose to continue with bullying behaviour to leave the school during the year. Despite all this, some bullying behaviour is at times not reported. Students can report bullying to their classroom teacher, the Year Level Coordinator,  the  Social Worker, Assistant Principal or Principal at any time. We are focussed on developing a safe, friendly, supportive leaning environment for all.

Circus Skills Workshops
From juggling to balancing, our  Year 7 students  are picking up a diverse range of skills thanks to the circus skills workshops facilitated by the Circus Nexus team.

Shepparton ACE Secondary College is on the grounds of the Yorta Yorta and Bangerang peoples.
We respectfully acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of these lands and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We recognise and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs and continuing connection with this land. We recognise the responsibility we have in caring for this country, which has deep spiritual significance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, whose cultures are amongst the oldest living cultures in human history. We recognise the importance of educating our students in the strong foundations of                                                culture and identity. We acknowledge that better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures develops an                                           enriched appreciation of Australia’s cultural heritage and can lead to reconciliation.
